You can double click on the blue box that is there when there is no cover.

You can go to the bottom of the page and click on "Upload Cover Image". Nope, appears to be gone.

On a book page, you can click More Options -> Edit Book Data to get to a spot to upload the cover.

They moved "Upload Cover Image" under Members Tools at the bottom of the page.  That is also where you can go to add book descriptions if a book doesn't have one.

I am bumping this topic because I need some help. I can easily find a picture of the book cover I want to upload onto one of my naked books--but then what? How do I copy it and then add it to my bookshelf posting? Computer un-savvy here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The book image volunteers are really the folks to ask. They have icons.

It seems there are a variety of options here at PBS when the actual book cover is not posted.  I recently discovered it's quite simple to add the cover in one particular instance.

When the cover image on the book page looks like this:

Guilty as Cinnamon (Spice Shop Mysteries)

there is an "Upload" box below the dreaded "blue box."    Find the correct book cover image (I verify on Amazon and sometimes search on Bing Images or Google Images if Amazon only has the image that includes "Look Inside"), save the cover image to your computer, click the "Upload" button and browse to the image saved on your computer.  The image should instantly appear (smaller than usual) on the book page with some type of "Pending Approval" message.  When I think to check if the images I submit have been approved, most are there within 24 hours.

I haven't invested any time determining how to share images when the cover image on a book page appears like this:

The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry

It takes longer for the replacement covers to update than the blue box ones. Maybe having to remove one and update the new one?

Some site is using these pop art images of the authors. Argh.

When you locate an image you want to use for one of your books you can usually right-click on it and select "Save Image As..." from the drop down list. You can save the image using whatever name you want so that you know what it is. Then go to the book details page on PBS.

If the listing has a "blue box" instead of an image then simply click on the "Upload" button just below the blue box. This will open a new window labeled File Upload at the top left. Then navigate your file folders to where you saved the image file on your computer. Click on the file to highlight it and then click "Open" at the bottom of the File Upload window. This will upload the image to PBS. You will see a small version of the image with the message "Awaiting Approval". All images uploaded to the system by members must be a approved by a member of the Book Image Collectors group before it shows up on your shelf. (BI = Book Image Collectors group, BIA = Book Image Approver, BIC = Book Image Collectors coordinator.) The process can take anywhere from a few minutes if you are very lucky and upload while someone is doing approvals, or it could take a day or two if there are a lot of images pending approval. Usually new images are approved within 24 hours unless the image is poor and needs to be edited or we have to look for a better image to use instead.

If the listing on the book details page has an image you want to replace for your book (or a generic "no-cover-available" type image that is not a blue box) then you can click on the "More Options" buttons just to the right of the image and select "Edit Book Data" from the drop down list. Then click the "Upload" button just below the image you see on the edit page and proceed as described above for "blue box" replacements. Note that if you are only uploading an image, then that is all you need to do to upload the image. Do not go to the bottom of the data edit window and click "Submit". This only clutters the pending data edits queue and has nothing to do with submitting your image. However, if you also want to update any book data along with your image, this is the place to do it. After filling out the appropriate information for the data edit, then click "Submit".

Images that are uploaded to replace fake cover images or ones that are already in the PBS database also need to be approved by volunteers. Replacement images usually take anywhere from about 1 to 3 days after they have been approved before they display correctly on the site, but sometimes longer; perhaps even more than a week in some cases, but that would be unusual. (Until fairly recently -- about 4 months ago -- replacement images routinely took 1 to 2 weeks or longer to display correctly.) And again, as with images replacing blue boxes, good images will get approved much more quickly than poor ones. Approval will usually be within a day or two for good images, but longer for ones that need to be edited or replaced with better images.

Also, note that if you upload an image discover that you made a mistake, you cannot remove the image to try again and correct the error; only image approvers can do that. You cannot reload an image once it is in the image queue and pending approval. It must first be cleared out be one of the approvers before you can upload a new image. In addition, note that image files must be in JPG or JPEG format to be accepted by the system.

(Edited to fix typos and improve clarity.)
