I realized recently that I could use PBS much more efficiently than I have been to keep track of my books. I started tagging my TBR pile, so when I look at bookshelves, I don't have to dig through mounds of books to verify whether or not I already own something.  I'm also tagging the Harlequin Presents I've read, because they're so impossible to tell apart, with those titles. (The Greek Billionaire's Virgin Mistress, yeah I read that one! No wait, it was the Billionaire's Virgin Greek Mistress. Or was it the Mistress's Virgin Greek Billionaire?)

I'm now adding each title to my books I've read list and making sure to rate it, so I'll know I've already read it. (Though the new feature of showing where books are on your list makes that not so important.)

I've already seen a bunch of my TBR tags come up on people's shelves, so it's actually working!

What other features are keeping people organized?

I use the TBR, books I've read and ratings.  I wish they had a "keeper" shelf so keepers could come off my TBR but they probably don't want us keeping too many books out of circulation.  I can't seem to let the really good ones go.

I use the BIR and ratings but that's about it.  I've tried the "Recommendations" a few times but none really fit my reading style.   I also try to tag books I've read so I can let others know a little about them.  For instance - "menage" or "set in Hawaii"

I've just started using the tags and I love them.  I'm also planning on adding my keeper shelves to my BIR list.

Hilarious!

Because I join a lot of swaps in the games section, I needed a way to keep track of what books I have available. So, I decided to use the TBR list.  I added all the books I had and all of the new books I get through PBS to the list. I use the notes feature to help me keep track of which books I plan on keeping or use in a certain swaps. I would be lost if they got rid of this feature!

WOW, you are all so organized.  I don't use any of the features to my advantage.

I have my books scattered all over the house on bookshelves and in plastic bins and always have to search for them when I get requests.

We are planning to move soon, so I will make it my goal to organize all these books after we move.  Or so I hope :-)

I use the TBR list and repost books from there, and I like to click on the little footprint icon to look at the transaction history of books and see where they've gone after flying my coop.

I can't bring myself to use the tags system because I'm too OCD for it.  Tags like "paranormal romance" or "part of Long Tall Texas series" help classify a book, but tags like "on my RL" don't help me, since I'm not ... whoever it was who added that tag in the first place.  If I had the option to privately tag my books and not see others' tags, I would use them.  Aren't I a meanie? :)

You can tell your tags apart from others because they have the little delete box next to them.  So "on my RL" is actually meaningful to whoever is using it.  I'm deleting my TBR tags as I read the books, so they won't clog up the system forever. :-)

I use the TBR and BIR.  I LOVE those features! I flagged my keeper books in my BIR list.  I just put it in the notes and since a note turns the diamond red I can tell at a glance if a BIR was a keeper or not. Very handy!

Well I logged my TBR mtn into the TBR pile when I first joined.  I had a bunch of books that were WL that I had no idea of and moved them  to the top of the TBR pile. I peruse it frequently to see if anythings come off WL or been added to WL since I logged it in.  I tagged them all so when I'm looking at someones shelf I can see that I already have that book.

I really wish they weren't combining the RL & WL.  So I tagged all my RL books. I also printed the list out.  The tags are great when looking at a BOB offer or a deal.  I made the tag cloud.  If anyone has a few Ozzie RL's on their shelf feel free to PM with a deal offer.  (Ozzie is my dog) I keep saying I'm going to delete the RL but I haven't yet.  I better do it soon before they combine them and I have to week through 2 lists combined to delete.

ETA: I delete my RL and TBR tags when I order or post a book.I also try to add tags that are helpful to the whole PBS community to compensate for my personal tags.

Can others see our BIR list or it it private? I think I'd use it as a different feature if it's private.

I don't use any of those, because I think that PBS's version is kinda clunky. LibraryThing and Shelfari are booth great though for keeping track of TBR's, wishes, reviews, and even where the books are in my house, lol

If ya'll haven't looked into either of those you really should check it out.

I tried LibraryThing briefly to keep track of the HPs and it just felt like too much work.  At least I already understand PBS -sort of - and a lot of the info is already here and it keeps it all in one place.

I love being able to use the tags to mark what books I've promised to who. And then using the feature that let's me post my books right to their WL. Although it's not technially something I use, I also love the new feature that shows if a book your looking at is already on your WL or RL. So handy!
