How do I wishlist soon to be released books that are not yet listed in PBS?  One of my favorite authors just announced her 2010 releases.  In the past I have always checked and rechecked for her new releases to be posted in the system, but by then there are already a lot of people waiting for her books.  Someone has to be 1st right?

if you go to the description page and click on her name is it listed in red?  I found mine that way and I was the first on the wish list!

this was from the help docs

This cannot be done.   A book must be known to the PBS database in order to be added to a Wish List.

  • Our database is regularly updated.
    • if your book is not in the database, it could be added at any time!
    • You can used "Saved Searches" to check on this easily--save the search for this item and run the search every now and then to see if it comes up in the search results.
  • You should be sure that your Search terms are accurate
    • You may not be finding the book if you are spelling the author name or title wrong
    • Try searching by ISBN, if you know it.  This will sometimes add the listing to the database, and you will be able to Wish List the book from the added listing.
  • If a book was published without an ISBN
    • it will not be possible to put that version of the book onto your Wish List, since the Wish List functions by ISBN
    • if a non-ISBN version of the book has been Posted into the database in the past, it can be added to your Wish List, but this means that ONLY that specific copy of the book will trigger a Wish List offer
    •  The "PBS ISBN" (the short, usually 5-digit number attached to a non-ISBN listing to keep track of the book in the PBS database) applies to only that particular copy of the book; only if that particular copy is reposted into the system by a previous receiver of that particular copy will you be alerted to its availability.

Amanda, try option #2 if you know the ISBN to try to add to database.  Select Advanced Search and input ISBN, sometimes it won't add right away but if you come back within 1/2 hour or so and try again, it will usually add.  I have found though if the book isn't listed on Amazon, it won't take in PBS system.

It's always nice to be first in the line:)

If the book is listed on Amazon, go to the bottom of the page that lists the book and get the ISBN  then go to the book browser in PBS and put the ISBN  in the key words. The book will pop up and you can wish list it. I got to be number one this way but I  also had it come up after I listed the ISBN with others on the wish list. Don't know what I did wrong with that.

If you have an ISBN, some members say they have had success searching from their Reminder List.  Sometimes that will pull new releases into the system sooner than some other methods.

And after you wishlist the book Amanda, please feel free to post it to the discussion threads and share the joy with your fellow members:   Paranormal Books to Wishlist   or  New Romance Books To Wishlist   :-)

My favorite way to do this is to find the ISBN on FantasticFiction.com where dates of future releases and ISBN's are listed if known.  They have links to Amazon. If you click the link to Amazon and it doesn't have a page for it then PBS most likely won't either.  However, many 2010 dates for publishing are showing up on PBS.  I have great luck in posting the ISBN to my TBR, and if it is successful I can add it to my WL.  Sometimes just doing the search will generate a search by PBS to find the  book and put it into the system.  It might take a day or two to do so.
