Lately I've been seeing a ton of critiques bashing this series. Saying how badly written it was --kinda like Twilight, I guess.  When they first came out I never heard this. Any input? Is this a "round two" of readers who didn't read them when they were first released and now want to throw their two cents in ?

I think because the series is praised and is popular people go in with very high expectations now and most likely the expectations just can't be reached.

I just think its about people not being secure with themselves and wanting to bad mouth and put others down because they havent achieved much in life.

This typically happens with any craze--in books, movies, tv. The initial surge of praise, then there always seems to be a backlash.

Melissa ,  you nailed it.  I agree 100%

Also , my daughter loved them ,she has all of them on her keeper shelf. She was disapointed in the movie.

I just read the series for the first time, and I thought it was a very compelling read.  I don't know if I can say that I liked the books, as even the "happily ever after" seemed tainted by the permanent scarring of their experiences.  It was very dystopian in that sense, which I liked, but the ending certainly didn't make me feel happy feelings.  That being said, I thought it was very well written, especially in such a way to evoke such vivid imagery.

I enjoyed the narrative.  It's not bad, but it's not great either.

A lot of people don't like it for the violence, which is fine.  I have a problem with the people who don't acknowledge the messages in it, though.   It expresses the terror and longlasting effects of violence.  It's underlying message is about doing what is right and showing compassion.
