A short but interesting read about the German parachute units of World War II. These units were known to be elite troops and are often mentioned in numerous other World War II history books. However, toward the very end of the war, newer parachute units did not display the same combat professionalism as earlier units.

I enjoyed much of the personal detail the author managed to include about these units and the men and commanders who served in them.

There was one problem. The author states Mussolini was ousted from power "three weeks before the Sicily landing," referring, of course, to the Allied invasion of that island. Actually, that invasion took place on 9 July 1943, and Mussolini wasn't arrested by the Italians until 24 July.
