I haven't read the Mercy Thompson books as I can't stand the first person narrative... But I love the Alpha and Omega Books so much, that I might just give those a try!

This was an awesome read! An amazing follow up to Cry Wolf :)

I'm not sure what else to say about it... I loved the continuing build up of not just Anna and Charles relationship, but them as characters as well! And I loved reading about the secondary characters, and the Big Bad wasn't at all who I expected! And the story itself was so good I had a hard time putting this down even for a few minutes!
I can't seem to stop Gushing, it's so good!

Now my only problem is that now I have to wait for the next one!

When I bought this book it was with a ho-hum another werewolf book but I do like Patricia Briggs. My bad, this book is wonderful and there is nothing ho-hum about it.

Starts out slow but picks up. Gives great insight into the Patricia's world of werewolves. Takes place about a month after the first book. Charles and Anna are happily married. They travel to Washington for a meeting between the other great werewolf alpha's of the world to discuss Bran bringing werewolves to public attention in America. A few people that are atending the talks are attacked by vampires that seem to be using pack magic.

The book isn't as good as the first. I'm a huge Mercy Thompson fan and like learning more about the Marrok and werewolves. This book provides more info about werewolves of not only America but the Alpha's of the world. I was hoping that Adam from the Mercy series was going to make an appearence since he is one of the faces that Bran used for the Were's to come out. Quick and easy read that also has some history and legend of King Authur.

The latest Alpha & Omega book is an excellent read. Both Anna and Charles seem to be suffering from the ancient Chinese curse as they 'live in interesting times'. These two need some time off from the stresses of sorting out insane werewolves, killing black witches, and fighting off evil vampires and other parafolk to get to know each other and get a chance to understand their bond. This on the job training stuff is rough on both of them...

In this outing, Charles and Anna travel to Seattle to meet with representatives of wolf packs from elsewhere in the world. The subject of the conference is that the leader of the American wolves intends to 'out' the werewolf community in the near future. Charles has to talk - he hates it. Anna is surrounded by clouds of alpha testosterone - she hates it. Then things start to get really bad - a pack of vampires attack and try to kidnap Anna, several murders occur - and one particularly horrific one is obviously intended to implicate Charles and to prevent Bran from revealing their existence.

Both Charles and Anna [and their relationship] make great strides while saving the day. Great action, great characters, page turning action and I didn't figure out the 'bad guy' in the first half of the book.

Read in order...

Excellent book. I think it is the best one Patricia Briggs has written yet. I like it better than all four of the Mercy Thompson books. She does a great job describing different type of werewolves and evovles the relationship between Charles and Anna. A very good read

I thought this was wonderful. If you like the werewolves in her Mercy Thompson series, you'll love this series too. It is about Bran's pride (?) and features his second (and son) Charles. In the first book Charles finds Anna, his mate. In this one, they both get separately into trouble with the other saving them. There are vampires, fae and lots of werewolves from around the world at the convention. All the alphas in one place makes everyone nervous and jumpy. Heads are gonna roll and some actually do. This is exciting from beginning to end. Can't wait for book three...whenever and whatever that will be.

What a great sequel to Cry Wolf. I love Charles And Anna's story. The Alpha & Omega series is very interesting and getting better with each book. Wonderful love story and the mystery was not easy to figure out. I particularly liked the explanation of the Omega wolf and how the different wolves fit into the Pack.

How soon does the next book come out?

A great read I couldn't put down until it was finished. Patricia Briggs knows how to twist a tale so I couldn't predict it from one page to the next - which I love. I doubt you'll be able to trade for this book, IT'S A KEEPER ..you'll have to buy it or check it out of the library. If you also enjoy this book, then read her Mercy the Skinwalker series, which this is an offshoot of.

Briggs can do no wrong. Though the dynamics of this series is quite different from the Mercy Thompson one, it's still awesome. Watching the main characters grow together and independantly is fascinating, and so much more of the world Briggs created was revealed in this book. Hard to put down.

Excellent. This book was great. Showed how the pair are growing closer together and how trust can result in great things. Also, this book is connected with the Mercy series the author writes and two characters are connected to a short story she wrote not long ago....it is an excellent book.

Definitely interesting. I started by reading the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs first, so I'll definitely backtrack and read the Mercy Thompson series. Worth the read for sure. I'm interested to see where the next book goes, if there is one.

My only complaint about this series or her Mercy series is that there aren't near enough of them! Love these books. This was no exception.

The second book in the Alpha & Omega series finds Charles Cornick ordered by his father Bran (leader of the North American werewolves) to attend the summit of the European werewolves in Seattle. The Europeans object to Bran's plan to reveal their existence to the world, but have no say in the matter, and though Bran is willing to extend aid to them with the fallout, the most dangerous of them all, the Frenchman known as The Beast, may yet cause havoc and bloodshed. But other sinister forces are at play, as Anna, Charles's mate, is ambushed by vampires and her companions nearly killed. It will take all of Charles's control to subdue his inner Wolf's instinct to protect her while handling the political situation with diplomacy and prevent it from degenerating into a bloodbath.

In this offshoot series from the Mercy Thompson books, Briggs shows us a little more of the werewolves' world while developing the unusual relationship between Charles and Anna, as well as revealing more about the uniqueness of Omega wolves. The story moved at a brisk pace, with lots of action and an intriguing mystery, but I was a tad disappointed at the revelation of the villain at the end as the insanity thing felt just a little contrived to me. Still, a rousing good sequel to a great opening that leaves me hungering for more in the series.

The big bad was well written, enjoyed figuring out what was happening. What made this book enjoyable was Anna. She has quietly gotten strong and assertive and I loved it! I like how Anna and Charles are slowly growing into their relationship.

Confession time: I read Hunting Ground in one day. As with the many other Patricia Briggs novels I've devoured in the past, I just couldn't put it down until I had turned the last page.

A follow up to Alpha & Omega, Hunting Ground continues the story of Charles Cornick and his new wife and mate, Anna. Anna is a rare and prized Omega werewolf, a natural leader that can function outside of the pack structure and can defy even an alpha wolf. She is also very tuned in to the needs and emotions of other wolves, and can influence their feelings and behaviors with her very presence.

Anna and Charles -- the second son of the US werewolf leader, and his father's "enforcer" -- are sent to Seattle to attend a conference in preparation for werewolves worldwide going public to the human race. Not everyone is on board with this plan, and political and pack tensions are running high. The situation escalates even further when Anna is attacked by a group of vampires, setting off a string of brutal and mysterious crimes that threaten not only their lives, but the future of their society.

Anna and Charles must work together to find the vampires and the muscle behind their magic, as well as maintaining the delicate balance of having too many dominant wolves -- and too many agendas -- all in one place.

I love Briggs' Mercy Thompson series, and enjoyed the first Alpha & Omega novel. However, I think Briggs finally finds Anna's voice in this second novel. She's still not quite as endearing as Mercy (in my humble opinion) but she's much more strong and likeable in Hunting Ground than in that first effort. I enjoyed the development of Charles and Anna's somewhat strange relationship, too, and I think Briggs made an effort to make Charles more relatable in this book. A supporting cast of werewolves from all over the world, as well as witches, vampires and fae make the novel a must-read for any lover of paranormal romance.

However, one final note: readers should know that the "romance" label is a bit misleading in this novel. I think it was much more driven by action and plot than the relationships of the characters. Those elements were there, certainly, but not the focus of the book. Maybe calling Hunting Ground an urban fantasy is a little more accurate. That aside, call it what you will, just make sure you don't miss this GREAT book!

This was a fun adventure - though I do still like the Mercy series better. But this one was quite enjoyable - who doesn't love a fun Arthurian twist? I will definitely continue to read this series!

The ongoing love story between Charles Cornick, uber werewolf, and his new mate, Anna, the Omega werewolf. Charles and Anna are sent to a were conference of sorts, to discuss the "coming out" of the weres. But, not all of the weres are interested in seeing this happen. Charles as to present his father's reasoning behind this, as well as try to keep the peace. While there, somebody tries to take Anna, and someone is killing people. I love Charles and Anna. He's stoic, dangerous, and in love. Anna may be an Omega, but she's nobody's victim, anymore. Good follow up. Will definately read the next one.

"Hunting Ground" was a likeable book with some interesting insights into Briggs' greater werewolf community. However, it is noticeably lighter, in both pages and content, than the previous entries in the Mercy or the Alpha series.

I was slightly disappointed because the characters are not as well fleshed out as I'm used to in Briggs' work and for me there seemed to be little actual progress in the development of Charles and Anna's relationship or Anna's abilities.

Patricia again delivers a fast paced, twist and turn, strong female leads grand story. I loved it and will continue to enjoy both her warewolf and skinwalker series!

This book didn't thrill me at all. I read it and it was OK. Nothing I am keeping in my library.
charmed avatar reviewed Hunting Ground (Alpha and Omega, Bk 2) on
An excellent follow-up to Cry Wolf. The story involves the decision by the werewolf community to out themselves to the world. Naturally, not all of the wolves are happy about this. It also continues the love story of Charles and Anna. Although they are werewolf mates and legally married in the human world, they barley know each other. Patty does a wonderful job showing us their feelings and letting us see the inner workings of their relationship.

The book is a mix of romance and mystery involving supernatural beings ie werewolves, vampires, and the fae. It has humor, and suspense and shows off Patty's ability to illuminate multiple characters with just a few sentences.

I like the characters: quiet brave Anne Cornish, Native American medicine man, Charles, youthful clan leader Bran. This is a good follow up story to the first book and I am looking for more.

I loved this book! The Alpha and Omega Series is more than a thriller! It is combined with a Woman coming into her own and the man who is growing into their love! Exceptionally Highly Recommended!

In my opinion this books is a heck of a lot more interesting then the Cry Wolf. I couldn't put it down and no skimming ahead, like I did for Cry Wolf. It got me more interested in the Mercy books, which I should be receiving soon.
