ARE YOU READY AND ABLE TO HELP IN A GOOD CAUSE? I'm passing this info along to my very helpful PBS buddies, reprinted from the daily newsletter "Shelf Awareness": Blue Willow Bookshop, Houston, Tex., is becoming "command center" for a nationwide book drive to replace books in three local school libraries that lost most of their collections because of damage caused by Hurricane Ike. Owner Valerie Koehler said that booksellers, publishers and others are helping the effort, which she is making with her staff, area student organizations and scout troops. She hopes to collect more than 1,000 books by December 1 to deliver to Anahuac High School, Alief Hastings 9th Grade Center and Brazosport Intermediate School. They are asking for new and "like-new" copies. Here is a partial wish list of books requested by Abbott Bridesmaid Anderson The Game of Sunken Places Archer Gideon the Cutpurse Armstrong Whittington Atwater-Rhodes Hawksong Avi Crispin: The Cross of Lead Avi Never Mind: A Twin Novel Bartoletti Hitler Youth: Growing Up in Hitler's Shadow Bauer Hope Was Here Benchley Shark Life: True Stories about Sharks & the Sea Berryhill Chance Fortune and the Outlaws Brande Evolution, Me and Other Freaks of Nature Broach Shakespeare's Secret Bryant Pieces of Georgia: A Novel Bunting The Lambkins Burg A Thousand Never Evers Blessings, AlamoLiz, San Antonio
