I am sending out wishes for everyone in the path of Hurricane Irene to stay safe!

My family and I are prepping our house, and bags just in case we're evacuated. Remember, if you hear about 'evacuation' for your area, don't delay! Just get outta there! Your lives are far more important than any items in your house; yes, they're even more important than your PBS books. Please be safe everyone. When the power returns, I want to hear that all my PBS and RAOK friends are safe and sound!

I was so glad to hear that Irene had weakened.  I hope all is well with you & your family, Erin.  Sending out good wishes to all that were affected.

Where I live in Bennington, VT we don't get much for tropical storms however, Irene hit us hard and the damage Irene did to our small VT towns is huge. Many are homeless as flood waters washed many houses away. My uncles family and a cousins family lost everything as did many others in our area. Two fireman we killed and then luckly revived one drowed during a car rescue the other was electricuted trying to shut down the towns power transformer before it went under water. To sum it up I'd have to say VT had a very bad day! I am now looking into a outreach to help those who lost everything and am going to try to get the help and support of a local church to over look it and a business to host it... I am sure that my family and many others have personal and household items that we can all part with to help others. I hope that pbs will let me post more details in the form of "I wish Irene" to collect items that people RAOK VT once I have more details if I can set this up. NO MONEY just RAOK.
