How much does he really love his wife? And how far will he go to get her back? Mitch is just an ordinary guy living an ordinary life with the woman of his dreams. Life is very good until out-of-nowhere a group of high-tech, calculating psychos kidnap his wife and demand a ransom of two million dollars. Mitch has no clue where a lawn gardener can find that kind of money, but the kidnappers have a well thought out plan that is slowly and painfully revealed in stages. And just when you think you have everything and everyone figured out - bam! Dean Koontz takes us on another wild ride through some unimaginable twists and turns. This is another great masterpiece by the master of mystery! I find it so amazing how this writer can have me doing belly laughs one minute and pulling the covers over my head the next. Make sure you have some reading time on your hands when you pick up this book, because you are not going to want to put it down.

I used to be a big Dean Koontz fan and had kind of gotten away, but I took this with a book bazaar deal. The description didn't sound like any of his books and I picked it up with pretty low expectations, but wow! I was trying to not get into it and I was hooked by the third chapter. And the chapters are really short (usually only 5-10 pages) so it's easy to start and stop. Of course it's also next to impossible to put down because every other page has some insane plot twist that you never see coming! The Denver Post wasn't kidding when they said "Moves like a roller coaster without brakes..."

I am a real Dean Koontz fan, and this is one of his best ever. Exciting from front to back, it's a thriller all the way. I had white knuckles just reading it.

This book was an easy read. I found it quite simple and read through it very fast. The ending seemed to soon to me. Maybe there will be a part 2

Story line was good but was a slow starter. If you stay with it, it is a good read.

Everything Dean Koontz writes is great. He has the knack of creating an intricate plot that never-the-less is easy to follow and he strategically places mystery around every corner. His latest book, "The Husband" is no different. Easy to start and hard to put down. It is one read that would appeal to male or female reader.

I'm so confused. I have been a Dean Koontz fan for years, ever since I first found Strangers in my high-school library. There had NEVER been a book that I didn't like, until the release of VELOCITY. I actually, almost, nearly, dare I say it?--hated that book. Then along comes THE HUSBAND, and I wanted so badly to love it like I loved previous books like WATCHERS, ODD THOMAS, and PRODIGAL SON. Alas, it was not to be.

The premise of thrusting an ordinary man (a gardener/landscaper) into unbelievably horrific circumstances was a good one. Unfortunately, I couldn't "like" the characters. Said gardener was bland and boring; his wife (who has been kidnapped) seemed to be little more than an afterthought. The "extra" characters in the book didn't seem to flesh anything out at all. To be honest, I didn't finish the story, although I did flip to the last chapter to see how it ended.

Overall, it was okay, but I long for the days of more supernatural magic that Mr. Koontz's early books brought.

Great Book - Not quite as intricate as other Koontz - but an easy to follow! As in Dean Koontz style - always a challenge to guess which direction the next turn will take!

I enjoyed this book~~it was more mystery Koontz than thriller Koontz, but I liked it and could not put it down!

What would you do for love? Would you die? Would you kill? An ordinary man finds out the answers to these questions when his wife is kidnapped and held for a 2 million dollar ransom. A really good thriller!

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me riveted. Kidnapping, murder, ransom, suspicious police, this book has it all. I would classify it more of a mystery/thriller than a horror as Koontz typically is.
