I found this book to be a slow read for me as I could only handle it in small doses. His writing is beautiful in some areas but a little bit heavy in others. As Holderlin was a recluse for 36 years and eventually went off the deep end, there is evidence of his life style and state of mind in his writing. I am glad that I read it but it is definitely not for everyone.
