Twice in the past month, I've ordered (non-WL) books that were accepted and the labels printed WITH delivery confirmation. And in both cases, the books were apparently not mailed. One was already declared lost and the other is about to be. No responses in either case to my PM politely letting the sender know that I would mark the book received as soon as it arrived (my way of hinting that if for some reason, s/he forgot to mail it, to please do so). I understand that scanning may not happen until the book is actually delivered -- but in both cases, the only detail noted was "Electronic Shipping Info Received" -- no "acceptance" or "en route" scans -- nothing. I can understand someone, after accepting a request, not being able to find a book or discovering the book is unpostable -- but to actually purchase DC and then not mail the book doesn't make sense to me. No PMs and no response to my seemingly unread PMs. Any explanations?

(Note: This is not really a big deal -- I have a mountainous TBR stack -- and fortunately there are other copies of both books in the system -- it's just marginally annoying and puzzling.)

I have one like that too....and it does happen sometimes that books just DON'T get scanned anywhere, even when they are really mailed. Lately I've had quite a few books both that I have sent and that I'm receiving that have NO scans and they end up getting marked received before a scan happens.

The one I have now though....electronic shipping info received on 3/16. Marked mailed on 3/16. No activity. Label reprinted on 3/31. Gee, now there's a scan on it for today 4/12, arrival at unit. This one leaves me rather suspicious that the person didn't mail it when they said they did, eh? But, who knows. No proof and all that. As long as I get the book, I don't care. But I have no idea what possesses people to just mark things mailed and then mail them whenever they feel like it without at least sending a PM to say "Gee, I'm sorry--it's coming, but I mailed it late."

People. Ya can't live with 'em. I could live without 'em, but unfortunately they have some of the books I want! LOL

I have had this happen to me a couple times recently, maybe it's a busy time of year or something?  I have also been getting no reply to PMs too.

From PBS Helps:

  • If the book was declared lost in the mail and you requested a second copy because you thought the first one was really lost:
    • If the postmark was from the week before the book was declared lost (or later!), and you got no notification from the sender that the book would be/was mailed late: you do not have to mark this book received (this is the ONE case in which you don't have to mark a received book received: if a very late mailer without notice caused you to reorder the book and end up with two copies).
    • OR: You can mark it received to note the late postmark, and ask for your credit back in your Personal Message to the sender.  If you don't hear back/don't get the credit back within 3 days you should contact us using the Feedback link at the top of the Contact Us page.
    • You can also note this information about the late mailing in the Comments box at the bottom of the Book Received page, while marking the book received: this will go onto the sender's record.

I had this happen with two separate orders in January. Both people purchased the DC, neither was ever scanned and they both eventually went lost. I still haven't received either of the books or a PM from the members. Fortunately I was able to order the books from others. The whole thing really seemed weird to me too.
