I wanted to post a book with ISBN 084979319X (Bastien Piano Basics, Theory & Technic for the Young Beginner.)  But when I typed that in on PBS, a very different book popped up (World's Favorite Folk Songs for Guitar).   Can it happen that two different books have the same ISBN?  If not, is there a way to tell the PBS system that they should check on the book listing that they have there?  Or how else do I override the ISBN?

Thanks, Therese

(Sorry if this has already been addressed somewhere; I didn't find anything.)

Yes, ISBN numbers do get re-used sometimes. No, there is no way to change which book gets the ISBN number in our system. The help documents state that when this happens the book should be posted using the "post book without ISBN number" function.

Solutions to common Book Posting Problems is the section of the Help Center you want. Sometimes old ISBNs are recycled after the original book has been out of print for a while. If there is a book out there by the listed name with that ISBN, then the Team would not change the listing.
