This book did not make me fall in love with Spain. I fact, the opposite. I was headed to Spain for vacation and was worried I would not like it. I loved Spain. It's beautiful, but I could not tell that from the book.

Having said that, it is a good book and Michner, of course, is a great writer. I enjoyed the book, but one must remember this was written during a different era. Good reference for those who enjoy history.
