I think it would be great to start a author highlite thread each week or once a month with a different author. And everyone can add the books they have read by this author and it would help get some moved off our shelf and find new ones to search for to start reading. I have found several new authors in the love and romance forum.  Just from reading all the fun games of guess who.

Well it is just an idea so think it over.

Occasionally someone will do this just to start up a conversation. I would love to hear about new to me authors just as long as no spoilers were included of course.

I think that's a good idea. Just when you think you've exhausted the authors from a certain niche someone might mention a name new to you and you can't believe you haven't read anything by them. Just recently I accidently came across the name Maggie Osborne- historical western- and I'm so glad I found her!

Susanna: that's why I stopped reading the guess the book game threads for a while.  My TBR pile and my RL were getting out of control.

I've been thinking for a while now that it would be great to have a specific author/book discussion thread going all the time.  More detailed than what we do with the "what are you reading?" thing, and everyone discussing the authors and books they really love or have just discovered.  I'd love to see alternating viewpoints on books I loved or hated - sort of like dueling reviews; Siskel & Ebert type stuff.  Who gives it thumbs up & who gives it thumbs down and why.  I think that would be way cool... and probably put all of us in the poor house from ordering books.:P

Good idea Kim. I unfortunately haven't read that many authors so I wouldn't be giving much towards the conversations but I forsee my TBR pile growing by leaps and bounds. Although, being a member of PBS it already does. So, what is bigger then leaps and bounds? That would be my TBR pile.
