Hi everyone,

I have to have a HUGE back surgery soon.  I will no longer be physically able to perform in my chosen career. (surgical first assistant)  I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about how to make money from home while I recover.  I will be recovering and not able to drive for approximately a year.  I am willing to entertain almost any suggestion.  Unfortunately, disability insurances will not provide income equal to what I make now so I need a supplemental income.

Thanks,

Vic

Hi Vicki,  So sorry to hear that you have to have back surgery.  I recently saw an article in a magazine that mentioned - odesk.com- as a place to find stay at home jobs. Also maybe you could get a job proof reading for a local newspaper .  Hope our RAOK members can think up more ideas for you-  Jen 🌻

Hi Vicki,

First off I sure hope your surgery goes well. I also wanted to share in case it helps any that I know how it feels to suddenly not be able to work in your chosen (or long time) field any longer. I was a preschool director and teacher for many years. A few years ago, I developed TMJ (jaw joint pain) I'm no longer able to physically keep up with young kids all day nor could I talk all day, either. Thankfully after a couple years of a whole lot of pain and trials with trying to find a compassionate specialist, I did and am now at a much better place. The "problem" (which I am grateful for believe me after all the pain) is trying to find a brand new career. I have actually always wanted to write a book or two. This thread reminds me, I apologize if this is the wrong place to put it but seemed appropriate, if any of you might be interested in helping me compile a book of RAK's, PM me.

Take Care and have a good weekend.

Mona

I have a friend who works for u-haul from home. It is  computer work and being on the phone with calls that come in. She does have rgular hours to work when she has to be on the computer etc. She said she can do it anyplace in the states as long as she has the technical capability.

You might look into editing for medical magazines. If you know someone who does that kind of work they may be able to give you some ideas.

Take care. It will be a new journey for you to navigate and find your way. It will be exciting as you heal and you see yourself manage and find your way.
