story of Rafe's brother, Travis Conley.
Just as Travis narrowly escapes from a shotgun wedding with his lover Pearl, he
encounters the excitable Lucia Montessano who changes his life in ways he never
imagined.
Lucia's family wants her to marry a man who would abuse her. With the help of
one of her brothers, Lucia runs away. She answers an ad for a mail-order bride
only to arrive at her destination and learn her intended groom has left for
parts unknown. Luckily for Lucia she's a great cook.
Travis' men are just about to quit and leave the running of the entire ranch to
himself if he didn't find a good cook real fast. Unwilling to suffer a riot,
Travis hires Lucia despite the many problems her being a foreigner with a
