The sleuth is Emma Rhodes, a "Private Resolver", who offers her services to resolve matters that the police would not be interest in for a handsome fee. This book takes place in Portugal with characters from America and England with a lot of time on their hands and apperently lots of money. Feisty heroine.

If you like woman who can take care of themselves and then some in a good mystery, this is a book for you. Great series that I wish I could find more of!
