I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Perkins (who is Diane Gaston as well) has a readable style and interesting plots.

I'll be looking for more books by Diane Perkins. This heroine was not your typical virginal young aristocrat about to make her come-out. She married a man who lied about his name, using the name of a friend in the same regiment. Now she's been abandoned and she's pregnant......

Lies or untold secrets- Gray did not know which applied to Maggie, the woman who showed up on his doorstep claiming to be his wife. Off to war he tried to forget her only to find, when he returned home, that she was living at his family estate. Soon Gray was as fond of her as the rest of his family and friends. But what of the lies she had told him - was her story of betrayal real- and who had duped her. A powerful story of survival and love. I had never read a Diane Perkins book before but I will look for more of her works.

How could I, Maggie Delaney, have been duped? Swept off my feet and married to a man who lied about his name, I now find myself with no money and an infant son. But I have found the owner of my husband's false name: Acptain John Grayson, a soldier, a hero, and a man of means. He doesn't believe my story, but his cousins, of big hearts and little suspicion, are eager to accept his new "wife" and make me a lady. How can I, a woman on the brink of ruin, refuse?

Does she take me, Captain John Grayson, for a fool...easily reeled in by her beauty and willing to go along with her charade? When she first came to me with her preposterous claims, I did my gentlemanly duty. I paid her degts and took no advantage of her. Now I find her and her son at my ancestral home, beloved by all. I could easily throw her out, but her fierce pride and smoldering eyes tempt me to keep her...and make her my wife both in my heart and my bed.
