I didn't get all the way through this one. I felt bad for the mom because she had post partum depression and her son had colic and allergies and rashes, but it was very depressing. I hope the ending is uplifting for whoever can get through it!

A frank, no-holds-barred look at the less than pleasant side of motherhood. You know, the sort that's not advertised....the food allergies, the colic, the exploding diapers, and most of all post-partum depression and psychiatric disorders. The author relates that "sometimes it's enough that everyone is alive at the end of the day". As someone who has been there, I found myself empathizing with the author. She tackles the heavy hitting issues, but also has a sharp wit about her too, which made the book enjoyable. I would recommend this to new moms who may be having a hard time coping, or simply someone who knows a new mother.

I loved this book! I am one of those rare moms who had an easy, quick birth, a mellow child who slept like a dream, never sick, no allergies, etc., etc. Even so, there were plenty of descriptions of Marrit's experience with her child that had me doubled over laughing in commiseration. It also helped me empathize with my friends who had a harder time with their births and children. Because that's what it's all about, supporting each other as mommas and not letting society's unrealistic expectations get us down! We're not perfect, and we need to help each other; Marrit hit the nail on the head.
