I requested a book, the member mailed me the wrong one, and asked the person who got the book I wanted to send it to me. It hasn't arrived yet though, the 'system due date' is next week. I gather that the usual thing to do is to not mark it received (as opposed to RWAP) . However the sender used DC. How does the member's use of DC work in this case? Does the credit get subtracted from them when the deadline to mark received is reached? Do I need to go ahead and mark this RWAP?
Thanks. |

The fee people pay when using PBS DC pays for the occassional credit that PBS has to refund. You will still get your credit back when it goes lost. The sender will get her credit. She will not get another credit if you receive the correct book and mark it received. Most likely she sent a credit to the person who got your book to pay for the postage to send it to you. Whose book did you get? Did she ask you to send the book you got by mistake to someone else? If so she should have given you a credit to cover the postage. |

Karen, my understanding is that you do not have to mark it rwap. Since the person used PBS-DC, it comes with credit assurance. If the book mailed with DC is not marked received before the system date, then you will get your credit back (which you put up when you ordered the book) AND the sender gets a credit as well. PBS, as the "insurance company," provided the extra credit. |

Hi Mary - the person who got my book decided she no longer wanted the book I received, so the original member said I could keep it. I went ahead and put it on my bookshelf since it wasn't my thing. |

You should not mark it RWAP, since it is not received. Wait until you get the book, it may still show up, it just might take past the lost date since it was mailed to the wrong person first. Since the other member used DC, the site will cover the credit returned to you when the system marks it lost. If the book is supposed to be on its way to you now, I would wait for a couple of weeks before reordering. |
