This is one of my favorite Mary Balogh books: Catherine Winters goes through such angst, and has such depth to her that one cannot help but remember her long finishing the book. The secondary characters are fascinating, too, in that they are not what one would expect; they certainly aren't one-dimensional. I *love* this story. One of her best, and it's one of a series of three books written about four close friends and former cavalry officers in the Napoleonic Wars. The other two in the series are "Irresistable" and "Unforgiven." Two of their stories are combined, one in the main plot, the other in a sub-plot, in "Irresistible." All are terrific, although I thought Indiscreet was definitely the best.
