William Leisner takes Captain Pike and the crew of the Enterprise on a mission to Coalition Space in A Less Perfect Union. The passionate followers of Earth First destroyed the Golden Gate Bridge and with it, the dream of Captain Jonathan Archer to create a Federation of Planets. The new Starfleet leadership has a bold plan to join Earth with the Coalition and elects Christopher Pike and his crew to escort a very old Vulcan named T'Pol to a peace summit. Some of the crew don't want to ally with the Vulcans, including James Kirk. Having T'Pol on board brings back his painful memories of the death of his wife and son at the hands of the Vulcans.
