Has anyone here read books in both of these series?  What is your opinion of how they compare/contrast?

I have read the Vish Puri books and I really enjoyed both of them.  The third book, The Case of the Deadly Butter Chicken, is due out in July. I picked up the first Inspector Singh book right on the heels of the Vish Puri books and couldn't get into it but now I'm thinking I didn't give it a fair shake because I was expecting Vish Puri.  Make sense?

Now I'm wondering if I should give Inspector Singh a second chance or if this is a case of, you're a fan of one or the other but not both, and whichever one you read first is the one you like? Hmm...

I really like both series, can't say I like one better than the other. Like the foreign settings, language and descriptions in both. I recommend both.

I, also, enjoy both series. However, I like the  Inspector Singh character better - he has flaws not liked by his department so he's given any number of cases where they hope he is "hidden" or away. Though the Vish Puri books are just as good, I often have a more difficult time following the characters. One certainly does learn a great deal about the culture in the settings of both, especially food!      M'ann
