I posted this in hidden gems, but wanted to give you folks who like Indridason's books a heads up. Tainted Blood is the same book as Jar City. Foreign country = different title. I am getting real cautious about this now!

We saw the movie (Jar City) - not realizing when we rented it that it was filmed in the Icelandic language with subtitles.  My husband's mildly dyslexic, so reading subtitles is not his idea of relaxing entertainment.  Bleak little movie, but interesting characters.

Sharon, I didn't realize that there was a movie of Jar City. I have no problem with dyslexia, but even I don't care for subtitles. As far as the books are concerned, my favorite, so far, is Voices. What I primarily get a kick out of is the total lack of subtlety between the characters - they tell it like it is.

Jeanne - the movie was filmed in Iceland, and after seeing it I have absolutely no desire to ever go there!!  I'm sure they intended to show the seamy underside, but everything was so drab and depressing looking that I had to wonder about thier suicide rates there.

In reading Indridason's books, he alludes to the depression factor being high there. I didn't see the movie, but I know I would never want to visit that place. There are many more countries that attract me and with good reason!
