Is anyone else having trouble with Internet Explorer on this site?  The last couple of months, I will be looking through the site, searching for books, reading reviews, or reading the boards and suddenly I can't navigate any further.  The only place Internet Explorer will let me go is to a completely different site.  I thought it was just my computer, but found the same thing happens when I use the computer at work.  I'm just wondering if I'm the only person this is happening to.

I sometimes use Modzilla at home and the site seems to work with it.  At work Internet Explorer is my only option.

I use IE and haven't had that type of problem.

Robin, I have the same problem here. Try going into the Community 'Top 50's' and clicking there on anything. It is the absolute hardest thing to do on here.

Top 50 gives me trouble, too, Connie. Other than that, I dont have much trouble with IE and PBS, though the Team does recommend FF.

Yup, I've been having issues as well with the second-newest IE version -- at work, we have the older one, and hubby's computer has the newest one, and my laptop has the one in between.  No problems with the first 2, multiple "hang-ups" with my laptop's version.  Sorry I'm not savvy enough to know what the names of all of the versions are!

I moved to firefox for this site and I no longer experience any problems.  I keep IE 7 on my desktop for other sites that I have to use for business.  IE 7 is stable and IE8 has a lot of compatibility problems especially with other Microsoft products.  IMO, stay with IE7 until Microsoft releases a few updates for IE8.  If you don't mind having 2 browsers on your desktop I would download FireFox.  Good Luck

Sorry to jinx you Jeanne. LOL

Jubead - I tried IE8 for a while and hated it.  I finally found a link somewhere where I could go back to IE7.  It runs much better on other sites but I still have problems with paperbackswap.  I don't know what version of IE we run at work.

I've used IE for this site since I joined in 2005.  Firefox seems to be the way to go for now.  It's just so slow opening up...probably my old computer.

Robin

I was having the same problem with this site and someone suggested trying Firefox.  I did and have not had a problem since.  I have found that it is also faster than IE.

I have both Firefox and Internet Explorer on my computer and will switch back and forth.  Sometimes with IE I can't click on links or if I am suppose to fill in information, I can't click on it...while firefox is fine.

This is the only site I have major problems with - periodically. Last week it was great, this week I have to constantly shut down IE and restart. It's pretty annoying because I always have several windows open, not just this site. I don't know if it's cause and effect, but I seem to have better luck on the pages that don't have the "add this" whatever stuff on them, but it's really a moot point because you can't navigate around that way. I now know better than to try the Top 50 anything, but many times after looking at a shelf, I can't leave to go back to a forum or anywhere else, and simply closing the site window and reopening it won't work for me, if I do that, I eventually get a message that the site can't be found. Unfortunately, it does cause me to come here a little less, sometimes I just don't have time to mess with it or don't feel like relogging in to all the other sites I have open as well.
