Anyone else read this? Generally I love her books, but i just can't get into this one. I'm the type that reads a paperback in one sitting 99% of the time. This one - I read a few pages, lose interest, pick it up a few days later, try again, put it down. I never do that. The book is considered "urban fantasy". The writing style is big on vague, choppy sentence fragments and I'm having a hard time caring about any of the characters. I know, I know - if I can't stand it, just toss the stupid thing. But I just hate to give up on her when I lover her other writings. Does it get better? Anyone have other comments to share? ------------------ From the back cover:
Silver smoke winds around my torso, peeling away from my ribs and back, stealing the dark mist covering my hands and lower extremities…tattoos dissolving into demon flesh, coalescing into small dark bodies. My boys. The only friends I have in this world. Demons. I am a demon hunter. I am a demon. I am Hunter Kiss.
But such is the way of Earth’s last protector—the only one standing between humanity and the demons breaking out from behind the prison veils. It is a life lacking in love, reveling in death, until one moment—and one man—changes everything… Last Edited on: 7/19/08 3:54 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I read the short story prequel, I didn't care for it. It felt cold and the character was boring. I didn't even feel a connection between the 2 main characters. |

Marie - Well, we all know how differently folks can view books. You may love it. There are several good reviews of it, so some people must have liked it. Maybe it will be more to your liking than ours. |
