So, most of the people here probably know about how today was "call in" day for gays and thier supporters. I had intended to do so and go volunteer. I have plenty of sick time and personal time since I haven't gotten sick in the three years that I worked for this place.

Well.... I actually had to call in yesterday... because I actually got sick with a bad eye infection. I remember getting dust in my eye while cleaning the air vents this week, which is probably where I got it. I could bearly open my eye yesterday morning it was so bad. I'm still not well (though doing better) today. What are the freaking odds? 3 years I haven't had to call in... and yesterday and today I do. Unfourtunately I couldn't go anywhere because I don't trust myself behind a wheel right now, so I didn't get to volunteer.

So, did anyone else call in? Did you volunteer?

Don't feel too bad.  I also went to work today.  I'm a reading tutor now and the kids I teach need all the help they can get.  I hate to take time off and have them miss out on their lessons.  But I'm out at the school, so I feel that I make my statement every day just by being there and being me.

I didn't work and did volunteer.  My partner worked for half a day.

I woke up this morning to an email from where I volunteer saying that they needed me to lend a hand, which I did.  I would have worked today from home (where I consult for is LGBT owned and operated), but what was so amusing is that there was actually no work for me to do!  They didn't assign me a new project until 5:30 pm today to start for tomorrow.  I've been sitting patiently waiting for a new assignment for two days.  It just happened to be that there wasn't one.  If my company "called in," about half of the company would have been gone today.

My partner ended up coming home early because he is really sick but picked up our daughter on his way home so I didn't have to go out.

Hope your eye feels better.

I had to go to work because we had a big event that I was partially in charge of.  But I love the idea and wish I could have participated!

Feel better!

I had too work. I did leave early, but because I wasn't feeling well. I wish i could have partisipated, but I did wear a rainbow shirt.  Some people at my job know and got it and others had no idea..

I had to work but I volunteered during the day (I work evenings). I also didn't go shopping today like I normally do.

I did work.. otherwise the store would have had to be closed less  2 weeks before xmas, not good in this retial climate... but I did do my little part for the cause 2 weeks ago... and it's  fun devious plot that I planned and actually worked!

Our local state senator is the one that presented the gay marriage ban law that n ow sits in committee in Harrisburg (yeah, Dem majority for letting it get tabled indefinately)... so anyways, the Senator did a show about our town 2 weeks ago that is airing all over the state, and one of the places he shot the show was our store.. and gosh darn it, he stood right under /in front of our "Hate Free Zone" poster... that's gonna be a great freeze frame shot to "accidentally" get posted online when he tries to pull out the ban law again... hee hee (yes I'm subversively evil)

unfortunantly, i had no idea about the event til my partner told me about it. i went to work that day....and needed to for myself..since i work only 3 days a week. but my partner had called in... our son had been in the hospital that nite with a dislocated elbow from wrestling practice. some at her job swore she called in because of the callin thing. She wishes that had been the case. so by default, she was out that day.
