Great writer (he's a journalist who lived in the US), he knows how to turn a phrase. Full of sweeping generalizations about the Italians. He also wrote "The Europeans."

Written in 1964. Despite the author's name Luigi, it has the feel of being written by an Anglo. I couldn't get into it. My partner was intrigued by the chapter on Mussolini.
