Welcome to the Random Acts of Kindness thread, also known as the RAOK place. This is where we post things to give away to others, asking NOTHING in return but a thank you. No money or credits are exchanged. We give freely, at our own expense. If you see something you’d like, PM the member with your mailing info. Please be sure to put full postage on any packages you mail out. Members have reported receiving "gifts" with postage due.

Please note that we must abide by PBS rules - NO buying, selling or advertising allowed.

For liability reasons, sorry, but no medications of any kind may be posted in this forum. This includes prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and supplements.

RAOK rules -
You may not ask for anything in return for the things you post here. Please do not ask for postage, or to swap or trade.
If you ask for a RAOK posted by another member, please do not offer to pay or give something in return. This is not allowed and defeats the purpose of the Random Act of Kindness.  Try to pay it forward and perhaps grant some wishes in the ***I Wish*** thread.
We ask that you do not reply within the thread. We are different from most forums in that way. When we go to wishes, we see wishes; in the RAOK, we see just what’s being given away. If you have a question about it, simply PM the member. All RAOKs should be handled privately between members via PM.
Please do not post single use codes - such as Coke codes - in this forum. Post that you have them and let members PM you for them. It saves all the replies within the thread (as above). You may start a separate thread if you want to post them that way. Or check the ***I Wish*** thread and simply grant a Coke code wish or two. Codes that can be used over and over again are perfectly fine to post here in RAOK.
Please do not ask for ‘everything on your list’ (yes, it’s been done), so that others can have a chance.
One of our most important rules is that you must acknowledge receipt of the things sent to you! This is our biggest problem. People take the time to post, wrap and mail, and then never know if the package arrived. Please say thanks for what you receive, either by PM or in the ***Thank You*** thread. It’s the polite thing to do, and we all worry about our mail getting through. Those who don't acknowledge a kindness will often find their future requests ignored.
Please include your nickname when you mail out a RAOK. This makes you easier to find and thank.
Be sure to check your listing and edit as needed, so people are not disappointed. We know that life gets in the way and computers crash, but please try.
Credit transactions should take place in the Book Bazaar or by private PM.

RAOK Tips -
Think carefully about what you want to give away before you post. Postage costs these days can be terrible for over-sized or heavy items that cannot go by media mail. We have all been shocked by the postage for something we mailed here; it happens often. Think first! This is a fun place, but you don’t need to empty your wallet by taking part. It’s wonderful to do something nice for others, but be kind to yourself too.

Before you post something to give away, check the ***I Wish*** thread --- someone may already be asking for it!

If you mark "taken" by your items that have been asked for, please do so at the beginning of the line and if possible, put the word TAKEN in another color so it's easily apparent to our members that something is no longer available. This avoids disappointments and keeps you from getting more requests for an item that has already been claimed.  Or, just edit your post to delete that item.

If one of us contacts you about changing your post, please understand that we have to follow PBS rules and guidelines. Often we have to ask someone to change or delete a post because of that. New things come up here all the time. If something is not appropriate, we will tell you so, and ask you to change it. Remember that the PBS team does oversee the forums. They edit posts and have been known to suspend accounts. We hate to have that happen to our fellow RAOKers when we can take care of problems ourselves.

RAOK reminders for people requesting something that is offered here
The people offering RAOKs are doing it out of kindness and generosity, often despite limited means.  Please make your requests for those items in the same spirit, and do not ask for anything that was not explicitly offered.  The people posting RAOKs are offering just what they have, and we appreciate them for doing so.  A request for substitutions is not in keeping with the intention of this thread.  If you would accept only a particular color, size, flavor, or other quality of an offered item, then please use the ***I Wish*** thread to ask for the specific item there instead.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to PM me and ask. We are always happy to be of help to members of the RAOK forum, new or old. Thanks for participating in this great part of PBS!  Enjoy!

Online:  All You magazine, which has LOTS of coupons, has a daily free sample feature on their website, where they post free samples and deals from around the web.  The daily free sample home page is http://www.allyou.com/coupons-deals/daily-free-samples, and you can go back through their calendars of samples from there.  You can also sign up to have daily email notices sent.

Things to mail:  Some of the images are cut around the edges because the items didn't fit totally on the scanner screen.

  • Packet of 12 kids’ adhesive name tags.  They say “My Name Is:” at the top, and at the bottoms are 2 different designs – one is butterflies, and the other is cupcakes and ice cream cones.
  • Disc 1 ONLY of Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds live at Luther College (no case or inserts, will come in paper sleeve);  see track titles at http://www.swapacd.com/Live-Luther-College/cd/387360/
  • Small “Super Star” motivational charts, about 2 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches, meant for little stickers or stars, 2 pads --10 sheets of an owl standing on books; 6 sheets of a robot.  Take one or both.
  • Bookmarks made from really cute double-sided cardstock.  Will send an assortment of several designs.  If you requested an assortment of bookmarks from me last November or December, or in the last couple of months, these are the same ones.  I’d love to send you more, which you could keep or give away.  :)  (to KF, )
  • “Sunsets” 6-inch 2015 calendar.  Would be great for papercrafting or making an arrangement of pictures on the wall (like put each image in an individual frame, or glue each image to a square of foam core posterboard, and arrange on wall)  (to KN)
  • Paper shapes (can send 1 more set from May); can write on the front or back;  I use them for cute notepaper, but could be used for bulletin boards, crafts, or whatever.  You will get 1 each of the following:  Butterfly, smiling watermelon slice, balloons, 2 different birthday cakes, popcorn, apples in basket, smiley face, yellow paper sticking out of blue envelope, orange leaf.   (Sorry, will not include ladybug and owl from pic)   (to CB)
  • 2 sheets of mini bookmarks featuring Captain Underpants, the teacher from Magic School Bus, Clifford, and Geronimo Stilton.  All say “I Believe in Book Power!”  Take one or both.  (to CW)

Decor paper shapes (heavier paper, like a card) – they could be used for classrooms or children’s rooms, as cards, for Sunday School or VBS, to write notes on the back of, or whatever else you might think of.  :)  The longest dimension on any of them is about 6 inches.  4 sets, please say in your PM which set(s) you want:

  1. Reading set -- 2 pieces: “Reading is Fun,” “Star Reader”
  2. God is Love set -- 3 pieces: “God is Love,” “Love 1 Another,” “Jesus Loves Me”
  3. God’s Promises set (looks like brightly-colored burlap) -- 3 pieces: “God’s Promises,” “God is Love,” “Jesus Loves Me”
  4. Sunday School songs set (looks like blackboard) – 3 pieces: “This Little Light of Mine, I’m Gonna Let it Shine” “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” “Jesus Loves Me. This I Know.”

Stickers (please include in your PM which set you want):

  1. Nature Camp/ Bugs  (to CW)
  2. Eco Bear / recycling / support wildlife (2 sets) (to VB, CW)
  3. Alphabet (letters and numbers)  (to VB)
  4. Zoo/ Jungle (2 pics, here and here)  (to MF, VB, CW)
  5. Mermaid / undersea (selection may vary slightly from picture, depending on how many sets I send out and what I have left.)  (to CW, )
  6. Patriotic stickers with pictures and captions: 3 each of “United We Stand,” “Proud to be an American,” and “Freedom is Not Free;” 2 of “Support Our Troops, Remember Our Veterans”  (to VB)
  7. Reward stickers (2 pics, here and here)
  8. Circle stickers that were packaged as “Drink Stickers” for telling whose is whose, but could be used for cards, scrapbooks, and other things as well.  They say Bride to Be, Maid of Honor, Perfect 10, Hottie, Party Girl, Diva, and other things

Bookmarks made from paperboard packaging.  Yeah, I know, but I thought some of these images were fun and would make good bookmarks.  :)  In your PM tell me which bookmarks you want.

  1. Monster High  (to CW)
  2. Rolling pin and cinnamon sticks
  3. Chocolate and whipped cream
  4. Hot Wheels  *ADDED A CAR STICKER*  :)  (to CW)

I am moving and found some things that are old but still usable.

The Home After, meditations for families with children, October-December 1991. Still usable. The Church, Learning About God's People,

Scott Foresman reading systems pamphlets: Poor Sad Green, Once Upon a Time, Snow, and A Big Bridge.

More pamphlets...5 booklets on pregnancy, breast feeding, etc , these are 33  years old so I have no idea whether they are current or not

Growing with Flowers from an old education course

New kelloggs code:

For those that don't know--Kelloggs has changed their website now on how to recieve points. I think they will be phasing out the codes in the packages very soon. I haven't seen many new codes online to give out either. So it might take you longer to rack up points if they stop both ways of doing this.

I have to offer the DVD of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", the animated, classic version. It is the DVD only with no case or artwork; it is a little worn but should play with no problems.

 If interested, please PM me.
