we all have different tastes! I have some of hers but they didn't appeal to me nearly asmuch as they did my friend..which is where 2 arenow LOL!

I've enjoyed Jory Strong's Crime Tells, Lena Matthews' Joker's Wild, and Lisa Marie Rice's though Rice's are very alpha and 'rough' so to speak. crime tells and joker's wild each have 3 books - lyric's cop, cady's cowboy, and calista's m en(1 woman 2 men) and call me, three nights, and stripped bare are the matthews stories. rice has midnightman, midnight run, midnight angel, port of paradise, dangerous lover, dangerous secrets, ..woman on the run.

rhyannon byrd's 'triple play' has al ot of descriptions about swallowing 'stuff' etc and about turned my tummy :-(  there are some threads and you can ask also about specific types if you want...

It hink I liked one of Black's..it was about 2 sisters who end up goingu ndera mountain..the main c haracter was a movie star or something...

I've never been a fan of Jaid Black. I think she is reguarded so highly because she created Ellora's Cave.

I'm not crazy about her writing either. Give me Morgan Hawke or Kaitlyn O'Connor any day.

the ellora's cave I started with was one of the 'white  hot holidays' anthologies..some were pretty spicy but not much of a storyline. gonna have to check out those authors Rose! I also prefer a storyline that's interesting. Iliked Lora Leight's Forbidden Pleasure as well and some of her Seal stories..have the 'naughty'  nauti!series now to read..allI've done is skim the first one for the 'good stuff' so now need to actually read it for the story!

Same here.  I tried either one or two by Jaid Black and didn't like either.  I almost gave up on Ellora 's cave at that point, but then I discovered Lisa Marie Rice, Jory Strong and Joey Hill ( Joey Hill is pretty hard core dominance/submission for me but I read her anyway because I think she is an excellent writer and you do get story with it, you get into the characters heads and I like that).  Also her characters are generally fulfilling some dark need that they have and not just being demeaned or mistreated.  If any of that goes on there is a price to pay by the one dishing it out.

Rice and Strong write very romantic very alpha heroes with lots of hot sex.  But especially with Rice the sex advances the relationship or reveals something about the characters.  It's not just insert Tab A into slot B and then, to provide more page count, insert into slot C and D or just B five more times or whatever.  I get bored with that.  Not everyone loves her Midnight Trilogy but those that do really, really love it.

Edited to add:  I very rarely buy anthologies either.  Just not enough story for me. I know they are very popular though.

The only Jaid Black book that I really like is The Possession.    Sweet love story.    I recently read Breeding Ground.  It was OK.   I will say that in some places, I was actually scared for the woman.

Some of my favorite Ellora's Cave books:   The Warlord by Veronica Chadwick, Venus Rising by Annalise, Alien Overnight by Robin Rotham, Throwback by Annie Windsor.

Some favorite erotic romance authors:  Morgan Hawke, Jet Mykles, Kaitlyn O'Connor, Maya Banks, Joey Hill.

Yeah, I'm not a Jaid Black fan as well although I agree with Betsy, I liked The Possession and that's about it.  I am a huge Lora Leigh fan but she has dissapointed me a time or two, but not often.  Susanna also listed some great author's you should try!

whew! lucked out - hawke and o'connor didnt' sound like my kind of reading - not right now at least but my tastes change!

could anyone recommned any like Lisa Marie Rice, Jory Strong, even Rhyannon Byrd (I can skip all the swallowing descriptions LOL!) I like dominant ment, maybe some bondage, but nothing rough/painful or being led around by a leash, etc. I just dont understand that..one book I read explained the stuff a lot better 'LIsa's Gift' so it was a bit more appealing and they guy wasn't some sadistic..I'm barely into paranormal/sci-fi though 'light' I enjoy. I think I liked Jory Strong and Lisa Marie Rice's because the guys care for the women and the women aren' twimps..they get what they want and they guys aren't overly rough. plus there was something of a story going on. I would've liked Byrd's better if she' s added more of a story and less talk about swallowing but no complaints other than that..the sex was 'caring' in the 2 of hers I've read. same with Lena  Matthews...hers were very enjoyable for me. lucy monroe too though Idont think she's 'erotica'

Don't hate her writing but I've since moved on to better books.   I think her name is more out there and grabs attention since there probably weren't as many writers in this genre as there are now.   Sort of like reading Christine Feehan's Dark series after reading JR Ward's series...big leaps and bounds of improvement in the genre there:lol:

I liked The Possession by Black as well, and still have The Addiction on my shopping list though I doubt it will ever come out.  It was supposed to be the story of the island owner (remember in The Possession when the hero went over to the owner's bungalo and he was trashed? There was hints at an interesting story line) but I've never run across it.

Try some of Shannon McKenna's erotic romantic suspense books.  They are hot!

I read 2-3 by this author few years back.   I dont consider her a great writer but then I dont pick up a erotic romance expecting good writing.  With that said,  from reading peoples comments over the years, her most note worthy book is Empress New Clothes.  I dont think I've seen this one mentioned here.   I thought this one quite hilarious and imaginative.  You'll see scenes like... OK, SPOILER, so quit reading if you care.

2 alpha alien males goes to earth to kidnap 2 woman,  they're then forced into mating (marriage), which involves  orgies,  meets  sex toys/robots... Some sex godess has to be in the room and part take on the first love making scene btw the H/H because alien males "thingie" are just SO huge, so theres threesomes....  you'll see heroine or hero mess with other people in the name of "marriage" celebration, but they dont have intercourse with anyone else because that would be "cheating".... you'll see female/female love making... hmm, truly one of the funniest moments I've ever seen on a romance book is when the heroine has a baby..... I almost peed my pants,  no lie.... Anyways, as you can see, this book is just completely outrageous LOL.

From my experience,  Marie Rice (only 1 book)  and Shannon McKenna's books (3) are much better written, more "romantic" then Jaid Black.  However, the above book has stuck around in my head for years now because well, it was just insane LOL.
