Helpful Score: 1
Very disappointing compared to the first three. First, Zombies are just plain gross and no fun to fight (or read about fighting). Second, the plot did not make much sense at all. There was some humor to be had in the Zombie's lair, but, overall, not as wittily entertaining. Gomez is a better character when he has a sidekick. Ending clearly indicates a sequel, but may have gone too far.

If you like sublimity and ridiculousness in the same source, sometimes the sam page, this is the book for you.

I wasn't so sure about this series after the first book because it just seemed a little over-the-top. The writing style covers "silly" things like aliens with robotic eyeballs and nuclear waste that causes nymphomania but the tone of the story is serious and not funny. A weird combination. But I read the 2nd book and found that the series really picks up in its humor and action. This 4th book is the best so far. The zombies and truly disgusting and a new character, Phaedra, is introduced and it seems like the series has a bright future. So glad that I continued to read on even with a disappointing first book.

I really enjoy these books--they're a lot of fun and always action-packed. This one was a little darker than the others but still a fun read.
