This is clearly the author's thesis. It's factual and very complete, but very dry. Three chapters in, and Jane was still writing only for her family members - I know she eventually got around to discussing periods during which the Jane Austen "mania" erupted (late 1800's and again in the late 1900's), because I saw pictures in the photo section, but I couldn't hang in that long. An interesting idea handled very dully indeed.
