I love romances but can almost never find anything that features a Jewish couple.  I know about the Peter Decker/ Rina Lazarus mystery series but does anyone know of any Jewish romances??

Ani,  I am not Jewish but I have seen an author here on PBS that writes Jewish romances. She wroteTHE MATZO BALL HEIRESS  and another called THE ANGLOPHILE among others. If you like the chick lit genre, you may want to check out some of her titles. Her name is Laurie Gwen Shapiro.

Hi friend :)  Love the new forum :)

One of my favorite authors who writes about Jewish faith/relationships etc is Naomi Ragen.

Here is another favorite book of mine The Outside World by Tova Mirvis (Follows the courtship and marriage of Bryan and Tzippy, the former of whom astonishes his family by rejecting their way of life in favor of a strict Orthodox lifestyle, and the latter, who longs to escape the expectations of familial obligation. )

Her other book was great too The Ladies Auxiliary (Ballantine Reader's Circle)

Wonderful!  I'll look for that one, too. I already ordered The Matzoh Ball Heiress.

This is GREAT!

I've read all of Naomi Ragen's books.  I currently purchased "The Covenant" from Amazon.  After I finish an historical fiction (Dark Fire), I'll start The Covenant.  Let me know if anyone wants me to post it to his/her wish list.

LOVE THE NEW FORUM

Have any of you read Maisie Mosco's series?  She has 3 of them.  They are some of my favorites of all times!

I'm not Jewish, hope you don't mind me posting. (I love Jewish culture) Jennifer Weiner always has books focusing around Jewish people and there is usually love involved. I loved Good in Bed, In Her Shoes (way better than the movie!),  Little Earthquakes....All of her books have Jewish themes in them. She's the only author out there where I have read every single last book of and at least gave 7 out of 10. In Her Shoes is 10!

Oh I forgot about Maisie Mosco. I read those a LONG time ago :)

For those of you that like cozies -- I love this series. I"ve read the first two so far. It's about a bunch of older Jewish woman that live in  South Florida who all hang out and solve murders. I can absolutely relate - I have visions of my grandparents when I read these :)  This is the first book

Shannon,

Welcome!  Anyone who has suggestions is welcome in my book!  The funny thing is, I just git a bunch of Jennifer Weiner's books, which are all in my TBR pile.  I didn't know they had Jewish themes!

Yes, I love them. I forget which one has a brother who wears the shirt "I love Jesus" just to tick off his relatives. (He's Jewish also)  Even for a christian it is funny stuff. LOL.

I have the Anglophile (big surprise, huh?) but haven't read it yet. I'll have to move it up the TBR list so I can then post it to Ani :-)

Great article about Jewish "Bodice Rippres" in the Jewish Journal with some book reviews and recommendations: http://www.jewishjournal.com/home/preview.php?id=15002

Hint taken Phyllis :)  I've got a couple of "must reads" first - and then I'll read it.

They're mystery, not romance, but I've enjoyed the Joshua Rabb books by Richard Parrish.   There are four of them, and the protagonist is a Jewish WWII veteran, a widower with 2 kids who moves to Arizona in the 1940's.  They're very interesting!

Hi all!  I read Matzo Ball Heiress and it was very cute.  I have it on my bookshelf if anyone else wants it.  I echo the thoughts on the Tova Mirvis books (I've read the first and The Outside World is on my TBR).

There's also a series I haven't read but mean to look into.  The first book is called Fax Me a Bagel.  Looks like another cute cozy series.

The other books that aren't quite romances but a good are Zipporah, Wife of Moses and the others in the series (Zipporah was the best, though).

SO glad to have found this forum!!

Pearl Abraham's book about growing up in a Hasidic family while trying to fit in as a "regular American girl" is titled The Romance Reader.  It came out about 1995.

Hi everyone. "An Uncommon Woman" by Julie Ellis is a good romance/family saga.
