I have a strange habit as a reader...I can only read authors that I have read before. That, of couse, raises the problem of me being able to read faster than John Grisham can write. I really have enjoyed all the Grisham legal novels (wasn't a huge fan of the others.) I heard somewhere that Lescroart writes similiarly, and I should try him out. I checked his website, and the synopses of his books look okay. My question is: Is anyone familiar with both of these authors? Are they comparable in writing and story-telling style? My one book I read when I have nothing else to read is Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet, and I'm starting to sound like one of those people who are always quoting Shakespeare! I've read it dozens of times, and almost know it by heart... getting desperate. Please help! |

I guess there is some similarity. If you enjoyed his books I think you would enjoy John Lescroart. I'm not like you I find if I read the same author to long I get bored with them. I know I read so many James Patterson I had to take a break now I can enjoy them again after awhile. I like to try new authors as I used to be like you since I joined this club I have tried new ones and found some I really like. I also have read many of Grisham and had to take a break from him for a time. Barb |

I think Lescraort is a better writer than Grisham
I have many Lescroart books, why not try one or two and see if you like them? I suggest The Vig and Hard Evidence

I've never read Lescroart and the last Grisham novel I read was The Pelican Brief. I think. It was many, many years ago. You should go to SYKM and check out the "Read Alikes" section. It will give you authors that are similar to the authors you like. http://www.stopyourekillingme.com/index.html

I like Phillip Margolin's legal thrillers. He does a good job, and gets the law right, which a lot of writers don't. |

I really like him (LesCroart) the character of Dismas Hardy is pretty cool. How do you pronounce that 1st name, anyway? I have several of his on my shelf, if anyone is interested! Also, James Patterson and Nora Roberts...... |
