A good historical romance about a stubborn woman who dressed and did things as good as a man, but was betrothed to a man who made her dress and act like a woman, funny at times. A great read.

I liked the story, but the picture was the ugliest guy around. Who do they hire to draw these pictures!

Wulfric de Thorpe was betrothed at age 13 to 6-year-old Milisant Crispin, daughter of his father\'s best friend--a \"good\" match for both families--but their first and only meeting was a disaster. They unwittingly injured each other when he was badly bitten by her falcon and Milisant received a broken ankle in the resulting chaos. Needless to say, the two have fiercely disliked each other ever since. Now 25, Wulfric reluctantly arrives at Dunburh Castle to claim his bride. To his dismay, he finds that although Milisant is now 19 and stunningly beautiful, she is still a sharp-tongued, untamed tomboy who refuses to obey her beloved father, dresses in male clothing, is an expert archer, and has a magic touch with animals of all sorts. Wulfric gloomily decides that his hope for a biddable lady wife is doomed. Just as pessimistic, Milisant fears that marriage to the handsome, powerful Wulfric will mean that \"he would smother me, try to break me.\" Neither Milisant nor Wulfric want to wed, but the two can\'t bring themselves to refuse and disappoint their respective fathers.

Thrust into each other\'s company, a powerful attraction grows between them, despite their difficult past. But darker forces have political reasons for preventing the wedding, and they\'ll stop at nothing to succeed, including murdering Milisant. Will Wulfric be able to keep his new love alive long enough to marry her?

This is one of the best and most interesting of this type (13th Century) of book that I have ever read. Generally I prefer Regency, however this held my attention to the very end!

Historical Romance

One of the world's best-loved authors of historical romance, Hohanna Lindsey once again weaves her magical spell in a magnificent tale of an unlikely couple divided by the prospects of an arranged marriage - but destined to share the deepest union.

I got this off the quarter shelf at the library. I didn't enjoy this as much as I have her other books, but it was still good.

A betrothal has been announced that will join together Britain's two most powerful families -- a union of wealth and influence to rival even the King's himself. But not only does the dangerously ambitious King John oppose this wedding, but Milisant and Wulfric -- the intended bride and groom --are equally unhappy with the arrangement. Two passionate, headstrong people, they resent being thrown together for purely dynastic reasons. But fate's many twists and turns -- and the unpredictable predilections of two unconquerable hearts -- will turn an unwanted marriage of convenience into a true and eternal joining of desire and love.

Betrothed as children, meeting as children, they both distrusted and disliked each other. Years later, their first meeting is still keeping them apart. When his father insists that he collect his bride-to-be, Wulfric agrees, and rides to her father's keep. Milisant has been allowed to dress as a boy, ride as a boy, and hunt as a boy, and fight as a boy, and knows almost no lady-like behavior. Wulfric is appalled, and doesn't know how she will be able to perform her duties as his wife, and hopes that if he takes her home to his mother, that she may be able to learn. But, someone is trying to kill Milisant before the wedding can take place.
