reviewed Journey into Darkness: The Gripping Story of an American POW's Seven Years Trapped Inside Red China During the Vietnam War on
Philip was a fighter pilot durning the Vietnam war and was shot down and help captive for 7 years. It reads very smoothly and is very intriguing as to what he suffered while being a POW and how he overcame the suffering he was exposed to. Truly a remarkable book.

5 years ago my mother married Mr. Smith's son, Timothy. I have had the honor of meeting Mr. Smith and Mrs. Herz, both of which are remarkable people. I have read this book 2 times and whenever I start to think my life is tough I get this book out and re-read it. If there is one book that I would recommend to someone to read it would be this one. I never was into war books or true story, but this one is completely amazing. Trust me!! It is MUST READ!!!!!
