This was a wonderful, beautifully written book, by a master of observation and perception of subtle things and realms. I've been following Andrew Harvey for many years, so to now read his first book, when he was 29 or 30 was truly insightful. Who he was back then. How he grew into the deeply enlightened man he is now.

The descriptions of the land and the light of Ladakh are enough of a reason to read this book. I found myself going back to passages just to feel the shimmer again.

We meet such interesting people by his "chance" encounters, all of whom contribute to the richness of this semi-travelogue. In the second half of the book we meet his first Master. I will leave this for your own discovery. I found it brilliant and moving.

Beautiful, rich, worthy of your time and your consciousness. Shows the value of early work; makes you want to read his recent work. All to the good.
