His mother and father dead, his brother and sister separated from him, he is in danger of jail until two philanthropic ladies arrange for him to go to an orphanage instead of to prison. This proves to be a hateful experience and Gennariello runs away. Discouraged and disillusioned, Gennariello sets out to walk to Naples, his homeplace, from Rome. On the way, he meets a helpful American, an ex-colonel, who directs him to a Boys' Town. A new life begins for the plucky youngster.« less
