I purchase both Bliss and Dance this year - got good deals on both. I read Bliss a while ago but just read Dance over the past few days. Wow - she really is amazing. Her stories and characters are so incredibly unique. Her writing is artful, poetic, beautiful. I can't say enough about these two books. I adored The Proposition - but I have to say that the unique subject matter, setting and characters in the two books may make them my favorite Ivory's thus far. Dance really moved me. It is essentially  the story of a woman finding herself despite and accepting love in spite of the very conditional love of a misguided father. It hit close to home for me. It was just so beautiful!

I haven't read Bliss or Dance but did read The Proposition and Untie My Heart and loved them both.

I loved Dance, but Bliss, not so much.  But it's like Black Silk; too many elements that didn't work for me personally, but the writing is brilliant.  And the same for Beast too, which is another Ivory not-so-favorite.  The heroine drove me batty - I could have gleefully slapped her silly - and the hero is an idiot for the absurd charade he tries to pull, but it's a page turner all the same.
