Julian
Author: Gore Vidal
In the turbulent life of Julian the Apostate, the nephew of Emperor Constantine the Great who ascended the throne in A.D. 361 at the age of twenty-nine and was murdered four years later after an unsuccessful atempt to restore the worship of the old gods, Gore Vidal has found an ideal subject for one of the best of all his historical novels.

Back when I was more literate, 30 years ago, I researched the history behind this book. The main points are factually accurate. This should be required reading for all Christians who think that the religious takeover of the 4th century was benign or inevitable.

A most interesting story based on the Roman Emperor, Julian Augustus. I found it riveting and facinating to learn about the way they lived back in Roman times.
