The story of Julius who grew up poor and makes his way from Paris to Alger to London. Due to his ruthless greed for power over others and more wealth, he becomes one of the richest men there. His overarching desire is for possession - of people and things. Devoid of compassion, he rather kills than let anyone possess anything that is his.

It's a chilling metaphorical tale, excellently written.
