What is everyone reading?

I am reading an older HF mystery The Players's Boy is Dead by Leonard Tourney.  Set in Elizabethan England. First book of the series written in 1980. Good characeters enjoying it so far.

Hello!  I finished The Wonder by Emma Donoghue over the weekend.  Pretty good!  The movie version is on Netflix, so I'll be watching that now that I've finished the book.  Currently reading Where The Lost Wander by Amy Harmon and listening to The Brief and True Report of Temperance Flowerdew by Denise Heinze Blackstone. 

Reading Emily's Ghost: A Novel of the Brontë Sisters by Denise Giardina, a tale about the Bronte family.  What an exceptional family.  Too bad tradegy seemed to stalk them so often.  Very good so far.

Both were good but not outstanding

How was The Last Ship Home, Alice? I've had that forever and have never gotten to it. Still reading what I was the last time I posted, but I'm just about done with my audio book, which, BTW, is very good.  It was a freebie on Audible. 

It was good overall made you realize all the problems of Ellis Island. The boat rides over were awful, and it was a difficult life for immigrants.

I finished The Brief and True Report of Temperance Flowerdew.  Not bad.  I'd never read anything set in the very early days of the Jamestown colony.  Hard times.  I think I'll listen to The Good Wife of Bath next.  Still reading Where The Lost Wander. 

I am reading a historical mystery, A Necessary Evil by Abir Mukherjee. Set in 1920 India. Book 2 of the series. Very well written load with great history of India at this time and a good mystery. Start with Book 1 though, A Rising Man.

Finished The Lions of Fifth Avenue by Fiona Davis for the historical fiction challenge.  I read many of the books I had listed but slowed down and moved on to other areas.  This will be the second book this month that I listed and finished.  It's a good, good read. 

Helllo!  I finished Where the Lost Wander by Amy Harmon last evening.  Tonight I will start The Owl Killers by Karen Maitland.  I read her book In The Company of Liars several years ago, and I loved it.  I recently discovered she has written many other books, so I picked up a couple and am anxious to get started.  I started listening to The Good Wife of Bath by Karen Brooks.  I'm only about an hour and a half in, but so far I am loving it.  

Ugh, I've been in such a reading rut these past few months.  I only just delved into a HF book.  Finished Will Thomas' latest Barker and Llewellyn novel, Heart of the Nile.  I enjoyed it, much better than the previous book.

Reading The Consequences of Fear (Maisie Dobbs, Bk 16) by Jacqueline Winspear.  Enjoying it so far.

Carolyn:  Heart of the Nile: A Barker & Llewelyn Novel (A Barker & Llewelyn Novel, 15) sounds like a good one.  I've been ordering more and more books from the library to read because I really don't need more to put on my book shelves.

Shelley:  I read THE OWL KILLERS by KAREN MAITLAND about the same time I read about the same time as I read Company of Liars.  Both were very good.  I had forgotten to check what this author is doing for some time.  Thanks for the reminder.  Description for The Good Wife of Bath is intriguing.  Another to put on my reading list!

REK - I'm in agreement.  I'm trying to dwindle down my TBR stacks, so the only "new" books I've been ordering have been on PBS.  I did buy the Thomas book because my cousins also read the series, but I'm thinking from now on I'll just borrow it from the library.  I hate saying it, but books have gotten very expensive!

Just finished The Pilot's Wife by Anita Shreve, 7/8/2023, 4 plus stars.  Very good read with the Irish/British conflict embedded in a tragedy.
