Well it is nearly June, and our June read along is due to start. As we have never had a guest author before this is how I see it working. We will have until around June 21st to read the book, I will open 3 threads and we will continue as before. On the 21st I will post a fourth question's for Jeri thread. Where she can come and answer as she is able. It lacks the immediacy of doing this live but I just couldn't figure out a way to accomplish this. Last year we did a getting to know you thing on CMT Vicky as I recalled took over when the guy who's idea this was left PBS. It will be similar to that. Vicky Do you remember what those were called I was hoping to post one just so people who don't frequent the CMT could see? Anyway they worked pretty well. Jeri as you can imagine is very busy, she reminds me of the Energizer Bunny. :) So the question thread will be open for a few days only.
Also we need to start to nominate our read along books for August and December. As October's book will be Lionheart by SKP ( I'm being a dictator here) But I have said earlier many of us will be getting this anyway, and those who aren't going to buy it this will give you time to get on you library's waiting list. So please nominate the books that you would like to read. We will vote on them in the next few weeks. I think that River God was up there in the voting. I would like to put this forward again. It is by Wilbur Smith and is set in ancient Egypt. Last Edited on: 5/28/11 9:09 AM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

I found one of the threads, I was talking about. http://www.paperbackswap.com/Focus-Danielle-Danie88/topic/197867/ They were called "Focus On" Except we will be asking questions about her books. Not about her favorite icecream etc... Last Edited on: 5/28/11 8:51 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

LOL...I just saw this and was coming to tell you it was Focus On... I think that will work fine as a format. Oh, and I found MY Focus On thread (once when I had no one to answer questions, I volunteered myself) and I said this: (This is for Cathy)
My teenage crushes...or rather, sort of pre-teen, would have to be first, George Harrison. (Yes, I know I'm dating myself here. It is what it is.) Then I had a huge crush on David Selby, who played Quentin Collins on Dark Shadows! Does anyone remember him? I'm proud to say I was in love with the tortured, anguished werewolf type LONG before Twilight, thank you very much. |

Ooh, I'd love River God to be our next one. It's on my challenge list and I'm excited to read it. :) |

Thanks for the reminder, Jerelyn! I am about finished w/ Dreaming of Eagles & have a business trip coming up next week - Veil of Lies will be a perfect book to take with me! |

I really hope you all like Veil of Lies. I was excited about these books way before I had any interaction with Jeri, her accessibility to her reader has only made me like her more. I will be reading it for the 3rd time. :) But I still want to hear your suggestions for the Aug. and Dec. books. |

Well here we go. Enjoy! |

I finished last night--a good day ahead of time. I guess I've been reading so many 400+ page books lately, that I underestimated how long it would take. Also, a very quick, pleasant read. I'm not sure if I'm warming up to historical mysteries overall, or whether I like them anyway when they are 1) medieval, and 2) written by such good writers as SKP, Ariana Franklin (ie, Diana Norman), and now Jerri Westerson. Bumping, To see how the question thread will work go to the second post of this thread. We did a "Focus On" In the CMT forum last year. Where a Member was the focus and other members asked questions. The Focus Member would then answer the questions as they came. I will be putting up the Question Thread at Midnight. on the 21st. |
