Sabrina,

Here you go.  Don't (or maybe do) spend them all in one place! LOL

Sabrina, I understand about being broke, I was a starving student once, and now I'm a starving teacher, but why won't you do 2 for 1? This is a swap site, after all, and the Book Bazaar is all about making and finding deals. You ask for credits but refuse to make a deal, seems a bit contrary to me...

It's very nice that people are giving you free credits.

I've seen multiple post for this person asking for free credits. I don't mind helping someone out with a free credit when I can, but not multiple credits often as she was asking...especially when they aren't willing to ever help others out with deals.

I noticed this thread yesterday.  I was wondering why she would not make a deal for credits.  It seemed strange, now we know why

I was rather surprised when she turned me down.  Sigh...  I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I was the one who gave her credits to borrow but thankful she return them..I just wanted to help her out since a lot people usually helps me out (usually lets me borrow credits or sometime I do give them deal) when I desperately needed credit s for my wishlist books but I never knew this person wanted free credit...oh well, she seemed nice to me...

She posted in the bazaar that she was desperate to find some book and couldn't find it anywhere.  I pm'd her to let her know it was offered on ebay for a 1.00.  She wrote me a rude response about how broke she was and she didn't have an ebay account acting like she was offended.  I'm glad she's gone, good riddance.

I've been broke many times, but $1.00?  Come on?

That was very kind of you Marjana, we all want to believe the best about people and help them out.  I am thinking that the site gave the credits back to you once they looked into her activity.

I usually give people credits when I see someone in need, but asking for a lot credits and refusing to buy them or do a very slim deal to get one rang alarm bells. Looking at her shelf I wondered how she would ever pay them back because she had only 11 very common books.  Not that I ever expect credits back when I give them, but I did recognize her name as someone who had did this more than once before, I had searched the forum and found almost every post from her was begging for credits or being very hostile to other members. This time she changed her nickname so you couldn't find old posts. I hate to be suspicious of people and check them out, usually I don't, but then usually people aren't looking for over $10 worth of credits for free.

I feel for her that she is too poor to get the books she wants, but it really doesn't excuse taking advantage of others generocity and being hostile. Its sad that posts like that make people second guess helping others out.

I sent her some credits also, and then I looked at her Profile, and figured the credits were gone, but I didn't need them (or else I wouldn't have offered them).  Was surprised when they were returned today, and sent her a Thank you, then saw the account had been closed so figured that PBS returned the credits.  I've loaned and even given credits before, but guess in the future I'll check further on the profile before I offer.  Glad though that I got the credits back as I really thought they were gone forever. LOL.  Pat

If you're "too poor" to pay a buck for a book, how are you going to pay for postage when using this site?

I didn't think you could change your nickname on PBS.

I'm glad that PBS has a handle on this sort of con game/troll activity. VAlso very glad those that gave credits out of the goodness of their hearts got them back :-)

Marci, I suspect that she had an account closed, then rejoined under a different name, etc. Her posts sounded familiar.

Yes, we returned the credits to those whom she promised to pay back.   It's fine to ask to borrow credits (for a WL book for example) but if you get more than you need (if multiple members give), you oughta give the extra back...

It's a good idea if someone asks to borrow credits for the givers to post that they have given, and how many they have given, in the topic, so others know the need has been filled.  We applaud those who are quietly generous here, but we don't want them to be taken advantage of!
