The "Kathy Martin" books are a charming series from the 1960's, each one following our heroine for a year of her nursing studies.

In "Senior Nurse", Kathy moves into the senior residence at a teaching college with many of her old chums. Amidst assignments in different departments throughout the hospital, Kathy's adventures include a mystery when a patient's valuable locket goes missing, as well as a romance when she befriends a handsome young blind man (which threatens her relationship with steady beau Steve Kovac). There is also excitement and danger when a local cannery explosion and then a forest fire test Kathy's professional skills to the hilt!

I enjoyed this book. It was a gentle flashback to the books I read as a young girl. The medical scenarios were treated seriously and with compassion, all interwoven nicely with the fun of college life.

*** Three stars!
