Katie's Art of Seduction started out promising, but soon got bogged down by all the minute details. It made for an excruciating read. I felt that things happened so quickly between Katie and Cain, that their attraction was non-existent. I thought Cain was one of the worst heroes; he was cold, uncompromising and totally undeserving of Katie's affection. Frankly, he was an ass and nothing he did redeemed himself for me. I guess I was supposed to feel sorry for him because of his horrible childhood and his deformity, but I didn't. Katie needed more of a backbone and warranted someone a whole lot better than Cain.

OK read - relationship driven plot with a touch of Gothic atmosphere. Damaged hero hugs the shadows - insecure heroine fears change in her life so refuses to move forward... It tries to be a beauty and the beast type story - but it was very difficult to work up any sympathy for either of them. The hero is cold, detached, and controlling and the heroine is pretty wimpy and willing to let others control her life. Her boss [and best friend] and the dog were far and away the best characters.

I found her Dalakis series infinitely better, more action - better characters IMO.

I can't comment about the importance of order as I've only read this one.
