The Keeping Children Safe toolkit marrie... more »s the NSPCC's child protection training knowledge with international aid and development expertise to help agencies reach global standards in child protection. These standards require organizations to draft and implement child protection procedures to help their staff recognize and respond appropriately to signs of child abuse. "Keeping Children Safe" includes a training pack and DVD featuring a series of exercises designed to help people overcome common cultural and political misconceptions about abuse. Structured activities help people to develop written policies and procedures relevant to their organization. The toolkit also contains additional workshop materials that are targeted at staff with particular roles, for example, management, emergency relief, child sponsorship and programming. "Keeping Children Safe" will help agencies to: recruit staff safely deter, detect and respond to abuse; increase staff confidence through training to deal with child abuse concerns as they arise; keep children safe beyond agency boundaries; and, integrate child protection into all areas of the operation. The Keeping Children Safe toolkit is made up of five tools: Tool 1: Standards for child protection - A book which explains what the basic standards should be for all organizations working in child protection across the world; Tool 2: How to implement the standards - A resource pack that provides guidance and activities to help you and your organization meet those standards; Tool 3: Training for child protection - A pack of flexible training exercises and materials to help you and your organization train staff to meet the standards; Tool 4: Keeping children safe DVD - To support and help with training and implementation of standards; and, Tool 5: Keeping children safe CD-ROM - Contains all the training materials, trainer notes, exercises, activities, sample forms and templates.« less
