Parents who face these and similar situations share one thing in common: Their lack of disciplinary control is getting them into trouble. Although the situations described above may or may not call for professional consultation, there are many troublesome situations that can be solved with my "get-tough" approach to child-rearing. Parents can indeed keep themselves out of trouble by establishing their authority early in a child's life or by reestablishing it once their child demonstrates that he or she is beyond parental control.« less
