The book lists over one hundred activities and games to familiarize kids with the elements of music. The only required supplies are visual aids you can make (by copying masters in the back of the book), and simple things like crayons.
The activities in this book may be used with children as young as three or as old as ten. It's designed to be used by home-teachers who do not necessarily play an instrument with children who are not necessarily playing an instrument themselves. Musical concepts covered include the musical alphabet, the staff, treble and bass clef, half steps and whole steps, accidentals, scales, intervals, and the circle of fifths. Each lesson is presented very simply with clear instructions for the teacher.
I used this book with my daughter many years ago, until my husband took over her music lessons. I found it to be a very non-intimidating way for a non-musically trained teacher (me) to introduce musical concepts to my then first-grader. My daughter enjoyed the activities, and considered them games.
