I have said that my husband has a green thumb, if he touches it, it grows, and that I have a black thumb. Guess I spoke too soon. I had 10 starts of a tree called an austree. My husband pulled my starts out of water and put them into soil for me, and killed them all. Austrees hate fertilizer, which was in the soil, mixed for something we were doing earlier, which was replanting some of our sago palms. All 10, dead! I'm so bummed. Hopefully my bff will give me some more. She gave me those 10. |

Well, I'm sorry. Even if I have no clue WTH they were. RIP austrees. I have no idea if it's true, but I have read with some things that roots in water aren't the same as soil roots. No clue if this is right though. I have a mock orange that I got accidentally by bringing a piece home and it was in a bucket and DH put it in the yard so somehow it lived. We've killed many things. Barberries seem to work well so I may get a new one. We've killed either a red dogwood or willow (forget which), a viburnum - oh, too many too remember. Of course mowing them helped some along. The girl holly looks sick as the devil. I will like barberries. |
